About Me
Helping you move freely, feel better and stay active at every stage of life
Regain confidence in your body and enjoy the freedom to move without pain.
I’m Gail Hastilow, a Clinical Sport & Remedial Massage Therapist in Loughborough and founder of Poise.
I help people release pain, tension, and stiffness so they can move with confidence again — whether that means getting back to exercise, staying active, or simply moving through daily life more comfortably.
My approach blends deep tissue massage, postural assessment, muscle testing, and simple rehab plans, always explained in clear, practical terms. You might find my Knowledge Centre helpful for any questions you may have.
A Different kind of Sports Massage
Sports and remedial massage isn’t just for athletes — it’s for anyone who wants to move more easily and stay active.
I don’t believe massage should be painful. Instead, I use gentle but effective techniques that work with your body, encouraging the nervous system to relax and restore natural movement.
Every session includes guidance and aftercare to help you maintain results between visits.
My services page will give you information on how I work.

Meet George — My Teaching Partner
Every clinic needs a bit of personality — mine just happens to have bones!
George is the life-sized skeleton who helps me bring anatomy to life. I use him to show how the body fits together, from the way the shoulder moves to why the sacro-iliac joint can cause that familiar ache in your lower back.
Clients love meeting George because he turns complex explanations into something they can see and understand. You’ll often find me using him in short videos or demonstrations in the Knowledge Centre to help you connect what you’re feeling in your own body with what’s really going on beneath the surface.
George has even developed a bit of a following — he stars in my YouTube clips and he’s not above dressing up at as Santa for a local Christmas Tree Festival.
Whether he’s wearing a Santa hat or helping explain a muscle map, George reminds us that learning about your body doesn’t have to be dry or intimidating. It can be engaging, memorable — and even a little bit fun.
What My Client's Say
Amanda’s Story:
I had a permanent ache around my right hip and stiff shoulders. Recently the hip ache had flared across my lower back to a level of real discomfort, reducing my general mobility and freedom of movement. I had never had a massage before so was not sure what to expect. As well as talking about my problems, there was also time for hands on treatment. Although I ached afterwards, I was free of pain and had more range of movement.
John’s Story:
I was having restrictions in what I could do, especially with light bending and lifting which caused severe pain and have been doing Pilates. I did have reservations to a more hands-on approach but I was soon put at ease by Gail’s professional approach and attitude. I’m now able to do more work in the garden and use a gym and feel I’m getting back to somewhere normal. I strongly believe that doing Pilates, combined with the focused sports massage work with Gail very much complement each other
Grahame’s Story:
I have extensive and longstanding osteoarthritis that affects my neck and hip. Gail identified the muscle groups to work on and was positive yet realistic. I was confident she knew exactly what was needed to improve my mobility and well-being. I was reluctant to commit but with an initial 4 sessions, followed by refreshers I can see (and feel) a noticeable difference. Cycling, particularly when I turn my head is tricky. Gail has made a tremendous difference in the flexibility and mobility of my neck. I am now pain-free and can turn my head much further making me feel a more confident and safer cyclist
Caroline’s Story:
I had a serious operation leaving me with a lot of pain in my shoulder. After 6 sessions with Gail I am now much improved and am able to move freely without pain. It was helpful to have a trial session. I knew what to expect and Gail was very kind and gentle and worked at my pace. The best result is that I am pain free and should I need any more treatment, Gail is only a text away
